Historically this has been used to reach a particular person without navigating a phone tree or talking to the receptionist. While your customers can absolutely use DIDs for that purpose, other technologies have enabled a far more powerful use for DIDs

One of these DIDs is placed on their website, one is placed on a billboard next to the freeway, and one is placed in a regularly running newspaper ad. One month passes, and a good number of prospects call the business. But how many found the business through their website, the billboard, and the newspaper ad?
