IP/VoIP Engineer (Dallas, TX)
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the IP network after hours- 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 2 and 3 support for Excel's layer 2 and layer 3 networks
- Monitor and maintain Juniper and Cisco routers
- Monitor and maintain Cisco and Foundry switches
- Troubleshoot and diagnose network routing and connectivity issues
- Perform network modifications and implementations during Excel's normal maintenance windows, this includes but is not limited to modifications to IP layer routing (BGP/OSFP) or Ethernet layer 2 switching (VLAN/VRRP, etc). Loading of new OS's, etc.
- Work with Excel's IP transport providers to bring up new links during maintenance windows and perform intrussive testing
- Secondary Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain Acme Packet 4250 and 9200 SBCs and Transcoders
- Support VoIP customer and carriers terminating and originating on the 4250s and 9200s and Veraz Networks platform
- Peform and interpret Ethereal/Wireshark traces to diagnose connectivity/signaling issues
- Peform maintenance windows requiring reboots and/or upgrades on the Acme 4250 and 9200 platforms
